George H. W. Bush will take one final flight aboard Airforce One today. The senior Bush died friday night, at 94 he was was the longest living U.S. president in history. His final flight will land at Joint Base Andews just outside of Washington D.C. around 3:00pm this afternoon. There will be a bicamerial arrival ceremony at the U.S. Capitol at 5 pm Monday. He will lie in state in the Capitol Rotunda until Wednesday moring, the public is invited to pay respects from Monday evening until Wednesday morning. The funeral will take place at the National Cathedral Wednesday at 11 a.m. I will remember Bush as the president who offered a measured response when Russia fell on hardtimes and was at it’s most vulnerable, but was firm dealing with Iraqi agression when they invaded Kuwait. Like his policies or not, it is said that he always tried to be even handed dealing with domestic and foreign policy.
Public works employees in Jackson spent the weekend dealing with a major water line break which affected 60 connections. Residents in the affected area had no drinking water, water for bathing or cooking. The 36 inch pipe burst in the Belhaven area in a 90 degree bend in the pipe one of the most difficult areas to fix. This kind of thing has become so common we have learned to live with it residents catch water in bath tubs while they still have pressure , eateries serve and cook with bottle water. and everyone hopes for a quick fix and more money to replace aging pipes.
