RANDOM THOUGHT’S:

Word came in Wednesday that Facebook will be fined $5 billion dollars and must submit to federal oversight of it’s business practices. All due to claimes by the Rederal Trade Commission that the social media networking company repeatedly mis-lead it 2.2 billion users. This settlement between the FTC and Facebook includes the largest fine in U.S. history for a privacy violation. And grants federal regulators unprecedented access to the social-networking giants business decisions for the next two decades. The agreement did not seek an admission of guilt from FacebookFTC Chairman Joe Simons said in a statement that “Despite repeated promises to it’s billions of users worldwide that they could control how their personal information is shared. Facebook undermined consumers choices”. Despite the settlement there are still some serious concerns that the punishments levied on Facebook do not actually alter the way Facebook collects and monetizes it’s users data. The fears moved the committiees two Democratic members , Rohit Chopra and Rebecca Kelly to vote against approving the settlement early this month. The Democrats said the fine should have been higher and the sanctions tougher, if the FTC truely wanted to change Facebook. Well i’m just waiting to see if President Trump signs an Executive Order to divert the fine to build his wall.
