Today will be a history making day in Mississippi one way or another! Sen. Cindy Hyde-Smith and Mike Espy former U.S. Secretary of Agriculture are in a runoff for the final two years of retired Senator Thad Cochran term. Either we will see a history making win for Espy or at the very least we will see a historical Mid-Term voter turn out for runoff races. Some say Hyde-Smith developed a serious case of Foot-in-mouth disease after she was videoed saying if a north Mississippi supporter invited her to a public hanging “she would be on the front row” a week later another recording surfaced where she was recorded saying that voter suppression might not be a bad thing. In a subsequent press conference she refused to appologize and on three occasions refered to an offical statement released by her campaign in which she said she was joking. Joking or not it has cost her some campiagn funds with Walmrt and some othr donors requesting refunds of their support dollars. And admittedly in what seems to be a well timed guerrilla move someone left nooses hanging around the State Capital grounds over the weekend they were spotted Monday morning along with signs, Governor Phil Bryant has directed the Capitol Police to find out who did it, saying they would be prosecuted. Bryant joined President Donald Trump yesterday as he made stops in Tupelo and at the Mississippi gulf Coast Coliseum in support of Hyde-Smith. For what it’s worth some of the people interviewed in Tupelo refused to voice support for Hyde-Smith but said they just wanted to see the President, since it’s not likely a sitting president will return to Tupelo during their lifetime. Obviously TV viewership will be up this evening as we all wait for runoff results, however this plays out I am goimg to be ok because i’m going to vote how about you?
