It doesn’t matter if President Donald Trump leaves office after the 2020 election or later his successor will inherit a mess. Trade wars with major global trading partners, and as a result American farmers being shut out of some markets. A tarnished and diminished role for America being a world leader in brokering peace, allies now wonder if they can actually count on us. Our own elections are suspect, and the president keeps singing “No Quid Pro Quo” after a meeting with the president of the Ukraine, well I wonder if he knows the words to “The Enemy of by Enemy is my Friend”. Because the Kurds that we abandon in Nothern Syria last week, announced Sunday evening that they were hooking up with some longtime enemies of the U.S. to jointly fight against Turkey a U.S ally and the Militants that are leading the charge for them. Today there also appears to be an agreement between Syrian President Bashar al-Assads government and the Kurds. This seems to be an aboutface on counter-terr0rism in Syria, given the fact that the U.S. policy hinged on the partnership with Kurdish forces to fight ISIS. This move seems to strenghten Al-Assad’s hold on Syria including the northern region. We should also remember that Al-Assad has the full backing of Russia. It’s a mess.
