RANDOM THOUGHT’S:

You have likely heard that a gunman at the West Freeway Church of Christ in White Settelment TX. shot two church members just after 11:00AM Sunday morning. He was shot and killed seconds after opening fire. Republican lawmakers in Texas have been quick to credit changes in state law that allow concealed firearms inside places of worship as the reason for only two casualities. And in this case they are likely right, it seems to be a textbook responce to a deadly threat. It calls to mind President Trumps call to arm teachers in responce to school violence. In this case two church members acting as volunteer security guards for the service shot the gunman seconds after he opened fire. Never the less life in White Settlement Texas will never be the same, the Forth Worth surburb haas been rocked by the kind of violence that you typically read about in larger cities. New York is one of those cities and Saturday night there was a brutal attack at the home of a rabbi where there was a Hanukkah celebration going on, a man identified as Grafton Thomas age 37 allegedly wounded 5 people with a machete before fleeing the scene. He was found shortly after the attack covered in blood, he had apparently poured bleach on himself to try to fool authorities. His family has released a statement saying the man has a history of mental illness and to the best of their knowledge he is not not anti-semitic. I serve as a Trustee at my church, we take care of the finances, buildings and grounds and security. There will be a meeting this Saturday morning, I’m sure you can guess what will be at the top of the agenda.
