SHUTDOWN PART DEUX?: I don’t think that President Trump really wants a sequel to the longest government shutdown in U.S. history, the people who crunch the numbers say it cost the economy about 13 billion dollars, 3 billion of that is not recoverable. Some workers will recieve pay for the time they were furloughed, those contracted to work for the government will not. House and Senate committiee members agreed in principle on Monday on a spending package that would keep the government open and people on the job if the president signs off on it. But the president is still trying to fulfill his campaign of a border wall along the U.S. Mexico border. There is no word yet on what amount of money is included for the wall if any. Congressional aids worked through the night to get it to the House and Senate so they can vote on it and get it to the presidents desk before the friday deadline. If President Trump vetos the new spending package it’s doughtful he will readily take responsibility for another shutdown. But his administration has already identified pockets of money that could be seized to build his wall under a National Emergency Declaration. The bad part about this whole drama is real people lives are being impacted by the actions of a select few. Most of us knew someone who was a victum of the furlough, someone who had to figure out how to pay a house note, a car note, tution etc. These people don’t need another shutdown nor does the rest of the country.
