RANDOM THOUGHT’S:
We’re starting a new year with part of our government shutdown, but a cheerie tweet from our President seems to ignore that point. Some government workers deemed essential are required to report to work regardless of the situation, while others are furloughed. All are looking looking forward to an end to this situation, and having their lives returning to normal. A Union representing federal employees has filed suit on behalf of the furloughed workers, the last time that happened the courts sided with the workers and the union. This matter will likely lead to some kind of compromise because at this point President Trump has taken blame for shuting down things but if this drags on much longer the blame will start to spread to both Republicans and Democrats. The 2013 government shutdown is said to have had a negative 24 billion dollar impact on the nations economy, no one wants to see that again. In the long run agencys will burn through any surplus funds they have and be forced to send workers home. All over the country state programs supported by federal dollars will grind to a hault, and small business loans will not see be processed. Even the IRS which was just beginning to get it’s people up to speed on the new tax codes fears that the shutdown will mean delayed returns. Maybe the house should offer 2 billion like V.P. Mike Pence suggested and call it a day.
