I always thought this border wall business was a just a campaign talking point until it became evident that President Trump was not giving up on the idea. I remember his boast that Mexico would pay for it. Sometimes I think he takes a curve real fast to see if any of his political base will fall off the wagon. Now 24 months into his term he has signed an Emergency Declaration that would allow him to raid the treasury, taking money earmarked for Homeland Security the Military and other agencies not yet allocated for specific projects. He had asked congress for 5.7 billion, they put 1.375 billion in the bill President signed this past Friday. Trump then singed the Emergency Declaration under which he is seeking to take billion to fund the wall. This has prompted a group of 16 states to file a federal lawsuit to block his plan to build the wall without permission from congress. These ststes are all headed by Democratic governors except for one. The suit was filed in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California. the San Francisco based Courts there have handed the Trump administration a number of defeats regarding policies dealing with the enviornment and immigration. The complaint accuses the President of unconstitutional and unlawful actions in declaring a National to access funds denied him by C0ngress. Something tells me that the fur is just beginning to fly in what promises to be a long hard fought fight.
