It’s about to go down the third Impeachment ever in american history will get underway this afternoon in the United States Senate. President Donald J. Trump is facing two articles of impeachment over his soliciting help from a foreign country to dig up information on a political rival, namely former Vice President Joe Biden. Some of us remember the Clinton impeachment of 1998, but this impeachment will be different given the fact that top ranking Republicans senators like Lindsey Graham and Senate Majority leader Mitch McConnell have stated that the president did nothing wrong and they believe that the House Democrats are just trying to undo the last presidential election. CNN got a copy of the four page organizing resolution which suggests McConnell will propose a timeline for the trial that will differ from the Clinton trial. Chief Justice John Roberts will over see the trial. He swore in Senators last week but things will get underway this afternoon and we can look for fireworks as members from both parties debate the rules McConnell is advocating. The results wont be known for a while because impeachment rules prevent them from talking about the trial publically. Like anyone else the president deserves a fair trial, but based on various sound bites from different senators it would seem that they have made up their minds without hearing the evedince. This is indeed the “Winter of our discontent” as we wonder if this will be a fair process or will the “McConnells” in the senate brush this aside and continue with business as usual.
